The Ultimate 5-Aside Team | Audi Connect


2 FC Bayern teams. 2 Audis. 1 challenge. But who will win the ultimate 5-aside street football game?

In the most extreme of urban challenges, Audi sent four players from FC Bayern Munich into New York City to find and form their 5-aside street football teams.

The short film (at the bottom) shows the two teams whizzing around Manhattan – from Times Square, Chinatown and Washington Square Park through to Manhattan Bridge in search of the best talent. Armed with their very own Audi and Audi Connect technology, the two teams went head-to-head to find their teams in just three hours!


The Audi Connect challenge

In Team White were Jérôme Boateng and Thiago Alcántara; up against Team Red with Franck Ribéry and Arturo Vidal.

I’ve tried running round Manhattan (it was a 13 mile round trip through Central Park), so I can imagine how hard it must have been to drive around the island! But with Audi Connect technology on board, the professional footballers revelled in their search to find the best talent available across New York City.

Along with 4 million other cars in the metropolis that spend around 73 hours stuck in traffic every year (73 hours!), the teams tackle the tough conditions in their Audi A4 on the busy streets – in search of creative and extraordinary athletes for this challenge.


My 5-aside team

I’d want a team that was up for a laugh, quick witted, enjoys exploring (it’s street football after all) and up for celebrating – whatever the result – after the game.

As someone that knows little about football but loves a challenge, I’d stay out of the game, manage my team… oh, and drive the car! I’d also have the oranges and water stacked in the boot. Everyone loves a half-time snack!
