Jonathan Groff: Classic Hairstyle With Swept Over Quiff
Renowned stage actor, Jonathan Groff styles a classic hairstyle with swept over quiff. Check out that shine – his barnet is so glossy it practically glows.
But his hair secret is more attainable than you might think…
Why We Love It:
Looking suave at the Met Gala, Jonathan Groff’s classic hairstyle might not have stood out amongst that fashion-forward crowd – but MFH bets that lustrous shine did.
This begs the question: what kind of magic potion does one need to get Mr Groff’s gloss?
According to an interview he did on Evan Ross Katz’s Shut Up Evan podcast it is…drumroll please…Head & Shoulders shampoo.
But MFH would also strongly urge the use of a nourishing conditioner after each wash; a deep conditioning treatment mask once a week; and a spritz or two of shine spray before you leave the house.
What To Ask Your Barber:
- Jonathan’s hair hits the top of his ears at the sides, so he can sweep it gently back.
- At the back, his hair is about an inch above his collar.
- The hair on top has been gently textured, most likely using the scissor-over-comb technique.
- This takes some of the weight out of the hair to enable easier styling.
- If you want to keep your style looking on-point you’ll need to have a trim approximately every 6 weeks.
Get The Look
- Wash your hair no more than 2-3 times a week, using a nourishing shampoo and conditioner.
- Pat the hair gently to get rid of excess water – don’t rub it briskly with your towel as this can encourage frizz and breakage.
- Wrap it up in an old cotton T-shirt, or microfibre towel which will soak up excess water quickly without damage.
- Apply a golf ball-sized amount of volumising mousse onto damp hair.
- Using a vent brush, sweep the hair back at the sides as you blow dry it.
- Tousle the top of the head as you dry it, wrapping the fringe area around the brush then blow drying it up and back.
- When your hair is dry, warm a tiny bit of pomade with your fingers.
- Then use it to mould the fringe to your liking, and tame any flyaways.
- Spritz with some shine spray and you’re good to go!
