Chris Olsen: Preppy Haircut With Side Part And Medium Fade

TikTok superstar Chris Olsen makes his MFH debut with this short, classic, preppy-style, side-parted cut – but that sneaky fade stops it from looking too boy next door.

MFH says

Coffee-preneur and social media A-lister Chris Olsen’s every move is watched by millions – and MFH is sure gazillions of followers will be requesting his short, classic, preppy-style, side-parted cut with that subtle but effective fade.

(As an FYI, a video of him going blonde about a year ago got 1.4m likes and 24,000 saves).

Controversially MFH prefers him with a dark barnet.

But regardless of MFH’s opinion, Chris clearly has serious influence. So when he spoke to GQ a while back, MFH got an insight into some of his fave products:

“I consistently use the Cetaphil cleanser. And then Tatcha’s Dewy Serum and always Peter Thomas Roth’s Cloud Moisturiser with sunscreen in it,” he told the publication.

“I got on the sunscreen thing after TikTok and learned about how important it is to wear every day, so I always put on SPF at the start off my day and I love that in moisturiser because it doesn’t feel like sunscreen.

As for his favourite scent? “It changes depending on which city I’m in. In New York it’s a Diptyque scent that I can’t remember the name of, and then here in L.A. it’s a Paco Rabanne in a robot bottle.”

  • If you’re keen on Chris Olsen’s look, your barber will look at your hair type, texture, and current style to determine the best approach.
  • For the fade at the side, they’ll begin with a #1 #2 on the guard setting and will gradually increase the guard size as they move upward, creating a smooth transition from short to long hair.
  • The fade will be blended into the rest of the hair by using a combo of clipper and scissor over comb techniques.
  • They’ll ask you where you like your side-part and start work cutting and texturising the top of the hair.
  • Chris’s hair at the top looks to be about an inch or inch and a half.
  • The haircut is also tapered tight to the nape of the neck at the back.
  • To style a short, classic, preppy-style, side-parted cut with  fade like Chris Olsen’s it helps if you’ve got straight hair like he has.
  • Try not to wash your hair too frequently – two to three times a week maximum if possible.
  • Chris looks to have dyed his hair so use natural shampoo and conditioner to help preserve the colour and health of your hair.
  • On damp hair, use a little sea salt spray or texture spray from roots to ends.
  • Part the hair on the side with a comb, and blowdry on medium heat, tousling the hair as you go.
  • When it’s try, you can add a small amount of pomade to give the hair a little more lift if you want.
