Young Mazino: Short Hairstyle With Soft Fringe
MFH has no beef with Young Mazino’s softly textured hairstyle with that flattering, eyebrow-length fringe.
The Beef actor (see what we did above?) is fond of changing his look, so he’s definitely one to watch – and not just for his acting skills.
Why We Love It:
He might not be a household name yet, but Christopher Young Kim aka Young Mazino, is going to be a force to be reckoned with when it comes to his hair, style, and talent (he was Emmy nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Actor award for his turn as Paul Cho in Beef).
It’s like a grown-up version of a K-pop hairstyle with its mix of polish and soft texture.
And, of course, that hero feature – the long fringe – which gently brushes the eyebrows.
As well as being a burgeoning hair icon, Young is also a big proponent of men being able to use and access skincare.
Speaking to People magazine, he said: “I think maybe there’s a stigma that it’s quite a feminine thing to take care of your skin,” he told the publication.
“Whatever that narrative might’ve been, I think it’s preposterous. I think everyone should aspire to have great skin because when you have good skin, you feel comfortable.
“There’s a large part of luxury skincare, in particular, that has to do with the sensorial experience of ritual. That’s a process that I’ve come to enjoy — to be like, this day has begun or this day has ended.”
MFH couldn’t agree more, frankly.
What To Ask Your Barber:
- For a haircut like Young Mazino’s your barber will probably section the hair with clips to ensure the fringe is separated from the rest of the hair.
- Parting your hair in the middle the stylist will then comb the fringe forward and allow it to fall naturally.
- Then they’ll use point cutting and/or texturising techniques, cutting into the hair instead of cutting bluntly across, to get that soft, slightly piecey look for the fringe.
- For the graduated layering and texture throughout, your stylist will use scissors or texturising shears and cut the hair at an angle – shorter towards the back and longer at the top/front.
- For a softer look, they may use scissor-over-comb or clipper-over-comb techniques to create a seamless transition from the longer hair at the top to the shorter hair at the sides and back.
Get The Look
- If you have straight hair like Young Mazino then this will be an easy, low-fuss style to have.
- To keep it shiny and healthy, try to only wash the hair a few times a week.
- Dry the hair gently by patting it, then wrap it in a microfibre towel to absorb more moisture while you’re getting ready.
- If you want to go a little more tousled than Young, use a sea salt spray on damp hair.
- Then blow dry it while tousling it with your fingers.
- When it’s dry, shape the fringe by using a very tiny amount of pomade to separate it.
- If you’ve got dark hair, spritz a very minimal amount of shine spray on it to amp up the gloss
