Andrew Scott: Short Slick Hair With Quiff
Mr Scott might be a supremely versatile actor, but one thing he doesn’t change much is his wavy, slightly tousled hair. So this polished, slicker, quiffed look is as bold as it gets.
Why We Love It:
Andrew Scott usually has more of a tousled vibe – probably because it makes his very fine hair look thicker.
But sometimes a chap craves a change, even a subtle one. So this slicker glow-over with quiff is a great night-on-the-town option. (Or, in his case, a red carpet gala.)
He spilled a few of his grooming secrets to GQ a while back – and *plot spoiler* it involves minimal washing and product.
“I don’t really like washing my hair too often,” he said. “I wash my hair maybe once or twice a week. I use a bit of dry shampoo too, sometimes.
“My hair is quite fine, so I put in a thickening mousse and then blow-dry. I only do that after I wash it which is once or twice a week.”
What To Ask Your Barber:
- Andrew’s slick quiff is an ageless classic for a reason – it suits loads of hair types, face shapes and ages.
- Show the stylist where you like to part your hair at the side.
-
The length on top is kept a little longer – around 2-3 inches.
-
Andrew’s hair at the sides also has a little bit of length, too, as he has slicked it back with a little bit of product.
-
The hair at the back is tapered tightly into his neck.
-
It also looks like Andrew has had his hair dyed, too (because by the age of 47, he’s bound to have at least some salt’n’pepper grey streaks).
- While you can grab a box dye off the shelf, MFH thinks it’s always a good idea to have your colour done by a professional.
- Well, at least the first time, then you can ask for tips while they’re doing it….
Get The Look
-
Gently towel-dry hair, then spritz a little ANFORH Texture Volume Spray (which is a sea salt spray/thickening tonic hybrid – without the horrible stickiness).
-
Alternatively, you can use a volumising mousse which is something Andrew swears by.
-
Using a hairdryer on medium heat, use your fingers to shape the hair upwards and to the side for the quiff.
- Then you can use a pomade, cream or clay to add the finishing touches to your style.
