David Tennant: Subtly Swept Back Side Parted Hairstyle
David Tennant turned heads at the 2024 BAFTA Television Awards with his stylish medium-length cut.
The side part and casually swept-back hair struck the perfect balance between relaxed and refined.
Why We Love It:
David Tennant’s hairstyle is a more relaxed look than we’re used to seeing on the former Time Lord when he’s at a glam bash.
This side-parted, swept-back look strikes the perfect balance between relaxed and red carpet.
One of the reasons this hairstyle works so well? Its simplicity.
The side part creates a classic, clean line, while the swept-over style gives it a slightly relaxed feel – and it keeps his long fringe out of his face.
Plus, it’s relatively low-maintenance: a small amount of product to keep it in check, and you’re good to go.
What To Ask Your Barber:
- Ask for a scissor cut to keep it soft and natural.
- The top of the hair should be kept medium length, around 4-6 inches.
- This allows enough length to sweep it back.
- The sides and back should be slightly shorter than the top, but still have enough length to blend smoothly.
- Request some texturising to add movement – this will also stop the hair from looking too heavy or flat.
- This can be done using a point-cutting technique with scissors.
- You’ll need to have a haircut every 6-8 weeks to keep the hair easy to manage and looking good.
Get The Look
- Use a volumising shampoo and conditioner to add body and fullness.
- Gently towel-dry your hair until it’s damp, not dripping wet.
- Apply a small amount of volumising mousse or lightweight styling cream to your hair.
- Focus on the roots and mid-lengths to add volume and hold.
- Using a comb, create a side parting.
- Use a blow dryer on medium heat, and lift it at the roots with your fingers to give it that slight volume David’s hair has on top.
- When it’s try, use a wide tooth comb to gently sweep the back at the sides, and up and over on the top.
- Using a tiny bit of pomade, warm it between your hands, before using it to tame any flyaways and to help shape hair.
- Use a light-hold hairspray to finish, for a natural look that doesn’t look too styled.
