Luke Newton’s Hair: Textured Quiff With High Fade
As Colin in Bridgerton, his barnet was rather more fulsome, but Luke Newton’s hair IRL is a cool, textured take on the classic quiff, with a fade to add a little more edge.
Why We Love It:
As this season’s Bridgerton love interest, Colin comes back from travelling with a more fulsome barnet and some serious Regency sideburns.
He told Instyle about his character’s makeover from the previous season. And there’s more to it than just becoming a bit more, well, foppish: “[Colin’s glow-up] was a real long process, and then we came up with the final look that everyone was happy with,” Luke said.
“I really felt like Laura [Sim], who’s my makeup artist, and Erika [Okvist], the hair and makeup designer on season 2 and 3, welcomed me into the conversation.”
“I started growing my hair and my sideburns, and [at] the premiere of season 2, Erika came up to me and said, ‘Grow your hair from now, let’s see what we can do with sideburns.’”
However, Luke Newton’s hair IRL is a more modern, glow-up. A textured style with a quiff and that modern fade, alongside his barely there stubble, will ensure his dance card is full for the entire season.
What To Ask Your Barber:
- Luke Newton’s hair is a classic style with a quiff that has been given an edge with texture and a fade.
- It’s about 1.5 inches long on top, with lots of choppy texture to give it movement.
- The stylist would have used a point-cutting technique to ensure the texture isn’t too blunt so it sits well and is easier to style.
- The fade at the sides is a nice touch, giving it a modern edge without being too severe.
Get The Look
- Luke Newton’s hair isn’t a wash’n’go look, but it won’t take many products to get the style right.
- Spritz some texture spray, or sea salt spray onto damp hair.
- This will give it a little bit of grit so you can make the most of the texture and shape the quiff.
- Rub a 5p amount of pomade between your hands to warm it up, then apply it to the roots of your hair.
- Blow dry on medium heat, ruffling the hair as you go to bring the texture out.
- Use a vent brush to shape the fringe into a quiff, lifting it up and over.
- When the hair is dry, add a little more pomade to shape the quiff.
- Then pick out pieces of hair and add a little pomade to it, to get Luke’s slightly tousled look.
- Spritz with a little hairspray, and you’re good to go!
