Hoshi’s Hair: Bleached Blonde Mullet
Known for switching up his looks as effortlessly as his choreography, SEVENTEENโs Hoshi’s hair is a masterclass in modern mullet(ing).
Why We Love It:
Hoshiโs hair has always been part of his charm. From pink, purple, red, to ebony, he’s the ultimate colour (and cut) chameleon.
Though it seems our Hoshi might have a soft spot for being blonde – he admitted in an interview that he likes to walk on the lighter (haired) side of life despite the fact that bleaching his hair is quite the hassle. No pain no gain, right?
What makes Hoshiโs hair so special? Aside from the fashion-forward icy platinum shade, his long, eyelash sweeping fringe is beautifully textured to give it a soft look around his eyes.
Then there’s super-subtle low fade/undercut and texture at the sides which gives him a contemporary mullet shape that doesn’t dig too deeply into 80s nostalgia.
Hoshi’s hair is just above collar length at the back, and those flipped-up ends add a playful twist, too.
What To Ask Your Barber:
- Hoshi’s hair is a masterclass in modern mullet styling.
- Ask for a soft, eyelash-sweeping fringe with a lot of texture to avoid any blunt or bulky sections.
- The top, sides, and back should be textured to avoid flatness and add a little movement.
- For the sides, discuss whether a low fade or subtle undercut will suit your face shape and hair type. This will help the mullet maintain its modern edge.
- Keep the back longer, just above collar length, and ask your barber how to flip the ends up for a playful touch.
- If youโre considering going platinum blonde, be aware itโs high-maintenance and damaging. Request your barber use Olaplex or K18 treatments to protect your hair.
- Once the desired blonde is achieved, your barber will apply a toner to achieve your preferred icy blonde hue.
Get The Look
- Shampoo as little as possibleโ2-3 times a weekโusing a high-quality shampoo designed for dry or damaged hair.
- Always follow with a nourishing conditioner to keep your hair hydrated.
- Use a hair treatment such as K18 or this Kevin Murphy one to keep hair in the best possible condition.
- Once a week, use purple or silver shampoo and conditioner to neutralise any brassiness and maintain the cool tones of your blonde.
- Apply a heat protectant before blow-drying.
- For styling, use a sea salt or texture spray to give the hair some grit and texture.
- As you blow-dry, ruffle your hair with your fingers to add a tousled effect, and use a round brush to flip the ends upwards.
- Part the hair in the centre and lightly ruffle the fringe for a more relaxed look.
- Add a tiny amount of pomade to separate the fringe and give the overall texture of your hair more definition throughout.
