Man for Himself

Boy De Chanel Men’s Makeup | New 2020 Launch

Boy De Chanel are expanding their men’s makeup line with four new products.

Luxury brand, Chanel, launched their first line of men’s makeup, Boy De Chanel, in 2018. On August 7th 2020, they are expanding this successful makeup collection with four new products. The Boy De Chanel range provides a great offering for guys looking to delve into the world of makeup and luxury skincare.

It’s still a taboo subject but it’s exciting to see a powerhouse prestige brand like Chanel invest in their male customers. The products are good (some great) and the packaging is next-level luxury.

That said, it would appear that shopping the Boy De Chanel range comes with a ‘man tax’. Comparing their 3-in-1 eye pencil to their Chanel Beauty equivalent, there is a £9 extra charge; and the £31 Boy De Chanel Le Vernis (nail varnish) is £9 more expensive than the Chanel Beauty equivalent.

But, if you’re shopping this range, you’re clearly a guy that wants to – or can – spend!

I’ve tested each one out to see what they do; how they do it; and if they’re worth your cash!

These four Boy De Chanel products will be available for purchase from 7th August.

Boy De Chanel Fortifying Gel Moisturiser – £68.00

Every man needs a good quality moisturiser in their grooming routine, and whilst this new Boy De Chanel moisturiser is certainly a luxury product in terms of price point, it feels every bit the luxury product on your skin. This, for me, is the stand out product in this launch and left my skin feeling amazing. It’s pricey, but it’s worth it.

Boy De Chanel Fortifying Gel Moisturiser contains a unique 24 hour-hydrating formula using Costa Rican Green Coffee PFA extract. This is a concentrated active ingredient that will stimulate the skin’s anti-oxidant enzymes and therefore protect the skin. This men’s moisturiser is lightweight and anti-shine, so for anyone with oily skin, this will work perfectly for you.

The Fortifying Gel Moisturiser can also be used as an after-shave, due to its fresh smell, and as a primer before any foundation.

Boy De Chanel Le Correcteur Concealer – £34.00

We all suffer from tired eyes and dark circles every now and then, and Boy De Chanel Le Correcteur Concealer is the perfect solution.

This men’s concealer isn’t greasy at all and blends so easily into the skin. It is available in 8 shades, so will work with various colour tones. The pigments are quite highly concentrated so you won’t need too much.

This creamy concealer can also be used to cover up any skin imperfections – perfect for camouflaging any breakouts. Having tried it out, the concealer feels light on the skin, with no ‘cakey‘ finish.

Boy De Chanel Le Stylo 3-in-1 Eye Pencil – £32.00

Boy De Chanel 3-in-1 Eye Pencil will certainly make your eyes pop.

This men’s Le Stylo can be swept along the water line or on the top lid to add definition, colour and intensify  your eyes. The 3-in-1 pencil is available in 3 colours; brown, navy and black.

These eye pencils have a really creamy formula, so they glide on smoothly. If you’re not used to using something like this, trust me, it’s so easy to use. If you have blue or light blue eyes, like me, I’d recommend trying the navy.

Boy De Chanel Le Vernis – £31.00

I’m personally not a wearer of nail varnish, but Boy De Chanel have released two new ‘Le Vernis‘ nail varnishes in Black and Natural.

Each nail varnish has a ‘done by not overdone‘ finish and dries extremely quickly, within 64 seconds. These nail varnishes are good, but personally, I’m not sure it justifies the price and a professional manicure would cost the same, if not less.

Some things are worth the designer price tag, but these nail varnishes, in my honest opinion, really aren’t.

It’s a surprisingly good launch from Chanel and their Boy De Chanel line. Once I saw the prices (£68 for a moisturiser!), I was all set to kick-off. That said, trying these products has been really very enjoyable and I’ve even been recommending them to my guy mates.

I’d suggest getting yourself into a Chanel counter to test these products or – if you’re feeling like you want to treat yourself – splash out! They really do look and feel like pure luxury.
