The Dr. Martens name became synonymous with British youth culture from the 1960s to 1980s, but saw a major decline in sales and near bankruptcy in 2003.

Since then, the brand has had a strong resurgence in popularity – with a successful refreshing of both their product base and subsequent brand image.

Once known primarily for their industrial yellow-stitched black boots, they’ve gone on to produce a broad range of footwear and accessories. Although diversifying in their product base, the brand has maintained their celebrated trademark of high quality leather goods.

The most recent offering from Dr. Martens’ accessories is particularly standout. Leather tote bags and satchels are the key pieces in the range – with clean lines and high-quality finish, the bags look and feel far more expensive than they are.

Priced from around £110, they’re a solid investment for S/S13. Whether you’re dressing up a casual look with the charro brando leather backpack, or keeping it corporate-cool with the black leather portrait tote, one (/all!) of these bags would be the perfect statement piece for any outfit.
