Lockhart’s Matte Clay
Unlike some greasy or drying clays, Lockhart’s Matte Clay is intended to leave hair with a textured matte finish and a medium hold. Hair should be able to move more naturally, but with your preferred style.
MFH says
Big fan of Lockhart’s and their hair product range. The Lockhart’s Matte Clay is good but it isn’t great. It’s a solid product but I wouldn’t necessarily reach for it. This product really does require layering to get your desired style and being quite dry, doesn’t have a great hold, at all.

How To Use
A top tip from Lockhart’s is to apply a small amount into blow-dried hair. Keep applying until the desired style is achieved. After drying with heat, use a cold setting on your hairdryer to finish which will allow the product to be absorbed into the hair and create a matte finish. The product should provide a medium hold and will let you move and style it using your fingers.

The Lockharts matte clay was user friendly for my hair type which is thick and straight. I only liked the product when I was able to go for sleek hairstyles and if I use this product for messy styles then I wouldn’t work because it makes my hair way to greasy. The medium hold is spot on and at least it has a better hold than Layrite Cement clay for sure. However, I have used other clays that have a better finish and hold than this such as the other Lockhart’s Fire and Brimstone matte clay and Cavalier Clay Blumaan. The Fire and Brimstone version of the matte clay gives a better hold and structure to the hair without any fail.
