Why We Love It:
I’m not hugely impressed by this launch by By Vilain. The hold is weak and the finish feels sticky.
I’d cast my eye to Label.M Matt Paste, Bumble and bumble Sumotech or even a hair clay.
The product scoops easily and emulsifies (works into hands) no bother.
Once in the hair, it’s fairly responsive but it feels a little tacky for building volume.
The finish is totally fine – fairly smooth and a natural gloss to it. They say it’s matte, but it definitely has a light shine to it.
The hair does not weather well with this. Feels dry and heavy throughout the day; meaning it can’t be built back in easily.
What They Say
“By Vilain Fiber Paste (2.2 fl. oz./65 ml) adds a new dimension to your daily styling routine. Fiber Paste is a professional fiber paste that delivers a medium, pliable hold, and a natural matte finish. Most importantly, it’s easy to work with and comes with a fresh minty scent. The consistency is hard at first but will turn soft once heated between the palms. With 8+ hours high humidity curl retention, it offers excellent curl memory and superior style creation, and of course leaves no flaking or dusting.”
