Joel Dommett’s Hair: Classic Quiff Hairstyle
As host of The Masked Singer, Joel Dommett’s hair has to take centre-stage throughout the series. And there’s no better way to look polished and on point than with a classic quiff. It’s the ultimate ageless, trend-defying hairstyle that’ll never go out of fashion. Bravo.
Why We Love It:
Let’s face it – Joel Dommett’s hair always looks great.
Sure, he’s not breaking any boundaries or setting any new trends, but sometimes a good, classic cut and style is all you need to boost your swagger.
MFH has also found out where he goes to get that tip top barnet: London’s swanky Salon 64.
The salon tends to the hairstyles of lots of well-known clients, including comedian and Love Island voice Iain Sterling (as well as his TV host wife Laura Whitmore), and ex-footballer Gary Neville.
If you’re thinking about taking a leaf (or a follicle) out of Joel’s barnet book, once you’ve got the right products and technique perfected, a quiff is actually a breeze to do.
Read on to find out how.
What To Ask Your Barber:
- Request a classic quiff with a slightly tapered back and sides, keeping length on top – around 3โ4 inches.
- Mention that you want the front slightly longer than the back for an effortless lift.
- Ask for a natural graduation on the sides rather than an extreme fade, ensuring a polished yet relaxed look.
- Specify that you want texture and movement through the top to keep the style modern and not too stiff.
- If your hair is naturally straight, request some point-cutting or slight layering to add volume and avoid a blocky shape.
Get The Look
- Joel Dommett’s hair is all about a good base of products to get volume.
- Apply a volumising mousse for hold and lift to damp, towel-dried hair.
- Using a hairdryer and a vent brush, blow-dry your hair up and back, focusing on the front for extra volume.
- If you want a bigger, fuller quiff, use a round brush and curl the hair around it as you dry.
- Once dry, work a styling product such as matte clay, paste, or pomade through your hair, starting at the back and moving forward for an even application.
- Use your fingers or a comb to shape the quiff more.
- You can pull a small strand of hair down – as Joel has done – to give it a 50s twist. Curl the hair around your finger to give it a bit of a wave.
- Finish with a light mist of hairspray for hold without stiffness.
