Chypre Fragrances
The exact year of discovery and creation of chypre fragrances is not certain, but it’s thought the history could stem back to the 18th century. Chypre fragrances supposedly became popular after Francois Coty launched his fragrance, Coty Chypre, in 1917.
The typical notes of a chypre fragrance includes oak moss, labdanum, patchouli, and bergamot. The top notes tend to be more citrus-based and woods and floral notes can also be found in the heart and base. In general, the blending of these notes produces a warm but dry fragrance.
