Why We Love It:
The launch of Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif is not a surprise. It’s been 15 years since Bleu de Chanel EDT and 7 years since the Parfum, so it makes perfect sense that there would be a new release.
Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif is a natural evolution of the original – richer, more refined, and confidently grown-up. It builds on what made Bleu de Chanel iconic, but updates it with a smoother, more modern edge. Clean, contemporary, and – crucially – extremely easy to wear.
How Does Bleu de Chanel Compare?
The original Bleu EDT gave us bright, citrus, ozonic clarity; the EDP brought structure; the Parfum smoothed it all out; and now L’Exclusif slows things down. Amber and woody notes are a the forefront of this scent making it instantly deeper and more grounded. There’s a quiet confidence in how it wears – much less about being noticed, more about presence.
Yes, the familiar citrus and ozonic notes are still there. But they’ve been reworked. Think polished lemon peel rather than juicy zest. The brightness is drier, the woods more resinous, and the whole thing has an elegant glow with dry amber that clings to the skin beautifully.
It’s not loud. It’s not fresh-out-the-shower. And it’s definitely not trying to impress in the first five seconds. L’Exclusif builds and lingers in a way the other versions don’t.
This is Bleu grown up. If you’re wearing the EDT to the office, and the EDP or Parfum for day-to-night versatility, then L’Exclusif is what you reach for in the evening. It’s sharper. Darker. More assured.
Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif Price?
At £158 for a 60ml bottle or £215 for £100, this is most certainly a considered purchase but, honestly, it feels very much in line with the market. Fragrances are not cheap!
Ahead of purchasing, I would most certainly recommend getting yourself into a store (Chanel Boutiques are beautiful) to try the scent on your skin and see how it wears.
Who Created Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif?
Created by Olivier Polge (he also created the Parfum), L’Exclusif quietly nods to the current landscape of men’s fragrance. While others are pushing bold, loud elixirs, Chanel goes the other way – subtle, controlled, and unmistakably Chanel.
The Verdict?
Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif isn’t going to shake the foundations of perfumery, but it’s not trying to.
It’s polished, clean, and very much stays in the Bleu lane. If you already like Bleu de Chanel, you’ll find plenty to enjoy here: it’s smoother, more refined, and yes, it smells expensive. Chanel have essentially taken a blockbuster and tailored it for a more discerning wearer. Think: structured and considered.
But if you’re after something challenging, polarising, or ultra-niche, this won’t scratch that itch. It’s easy to wear and easy to like – and that’s both its strength and, for some, its limitation.
That said, most of you reading this are already invested. You’re not here by accident – you’re in the Bleu world and want to know if this is a step up.
If you’re a Bleu fan or enjoy clean, elegant scents with premium execution, it’s worth trying. But if you’re after something bolder or more characterful from Chanel, I’d recommend getting your nose into Le Lion. It’s one of my absolute favourites.
That’s the honest answer.
What Does Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif Smell Like?
A woody, aromatic amber with a mysterious character brought out by leathery, resinous notes of cistus labdanum. Intense. Sophisticated. Majestic.
This is the story of a bold creation that challenges the norms of modern perfumery. With Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif, Chanel Perfumer-Creator Olivier Polge explores a new dimension of masculinity. The fragrance unveils an intensely powerful amber-woody trail, revealing richness, depth, and magnetic complexity. Majestic sandalwood anchors this creation’s strength. Leathery and resinous facets of citrus labdanum lend mystery, sensuality, and enchantment. The result is a bold, sophisticated composition—like a fragrance extract, dense and multi-faceted.

The Bleu de Chanel L’Exclusif Bottle
The bottle is as radical as the scent it holds. Its intense chiaroscuro captures the essence of something elusive: a perfect square that contains infinity within its structure. A blue so deep it flirts with black – yet never crosses into it. A sculptural object of vision and contradiction. It reflects a new dimension of time, space, and self. The bottle’s silhouette captures the infinite. A perfect square.
