He’s the Saltburn star who has caused quite the sensation, and IRL Barry Keoghan’s messy, spiky hair with that killer fade is rocking MFH’s world.
This heavily textured look is a big improvement on the hairstyle he had last awards season, which was a bit reminiscent of a teenage Justin Bieber’s sweep over.
But hey, you live, you learn, and you become famous enough to get to work with some brilliant hair stylists and groomers, such as Christine Nelli, who was responsible for his barnet here at the 2024 Golden Globes.
Her spiky texture secret? Apparently it was STMNT Definition Spray.
MFH also loves that Barry’s hair – works with Barry’s Golden Globes style vibe: his custom-made checked Louis Vuitton suit with its cropped jacket, tapered trousers, and the pearl accessory, the earring and brooch are a bit 70s punk meets 80s New Romantic.
So, frankly, normcore hair would not have cut it. Pun intended.

- Barry’s textured hair looks artfully dishevelled – and though it needs some styling, it’s not tricky if you use the right products.
- Try to only wash your hair a few times a week at most – most days, it’s best to just run some water through it in the shower.
- Towel dry the hair gently by patting it rather than rubbing the hair which damages it.
- On damp hair, generously spritz sea salt spray throughout the top of the hair from roots to ends.
- Then apply a very small amount of pomade, wax, clay or gel (it’s all about the level of hold and your personal preference re what you choose)
- If you want a matt finish but flexible hold, a clay or matt paste is your best option, whereas pomade or gel give a slightly shinier look and stronger hold.
- Take a small 5p amount of styling product initially, and rub between your palms to emulsify it before working it evenly through your hair from roots to tips.
- Then as you blow dry your hair on medium heat, start tousling it with your fingers.
- Using a tiny bit more product, start lifting small, random sections and twisting into spikes – this is not about having perfect symmetry.
- If your hair is a little wavy, it’s worth using some small straighteners to get that sharp finish Barry has.
- Lock in the finished style with hairspray.
